It’s the 1st September! A very special day for Potterheads. Today marks the day that us witches and wizards can head down to Kings Cross and jump on the Hogwarts Express to head back to Hogwarts. So whilst thinking about that, I thought I’d pull together some of my favourite wedding suppliers that can help you have a Harry Potter wedding!
ALL WAS WELL
To really make your wedding ceremony special, I highly recommend the Funky Celebrant Michelle Taylor to orchestrate it for you. Not only is she a fab celebrant, but she is also Potter mad! So not only can you rest easy knowing your ceremony is in safe hands, but she also has additional services that means she can be your “Mistress of Ceremonies” and help keep your day running smoothly. Plus how awesome would it be to actually do an Unbreakable Vow for real? And I love that she goes all out to be the part for your Harry Potter wedding. Photo credit Head Over Heels Photography, nails by Elle at The Station Hair and Beauty, and robes by Michelle’s amazingly talented sister Janette Haslam, who made the dress for the Fat Lady Portrait in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone!!
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO BE WITH FRIENDS
There are so many incredible venues that can be used for your Harry Potter wedding. Why not look at castles for a feel of home at Hogwarts? Even Alnwick Castle itself that was used in the films as Hogwarts. Or a pub to feel like you’re getting together with your favourites for a pint or two of Butterbeer (or maybe even Giggle Water!) Why not follow in the footsteps of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour and have a marquee wedding in a garden?
Fancy having some Potter magic added to your wedding dress? I love this dress by The Couture Dress Company who created this beautiful stunning dress with Always on the belt. Photo credit to Assassynation.
HAVE A BISCUIT POTTER
Ok, maybe not a biscuit, but let’s talk cake! And when I think of a Harry Potter cake, I think of Cat Food Cakes who does stunning cakes and has each house in its very own cake form.
For a cake topper, take this example from Becky and Gareth’s wedding and have yourselves made into little Harry Potter characters (cake topper from Etsy).
I LOVE MAGIC
Clearly you need some kind of magician at your wedding and one of my favourites is Harry De Cruz who was the magician for Sarah and Chris’ wedding.
I am such a major fan of Wheelers Wand Shop. I really need to get myself one (or two or three, maybe just a whole collection!) But to have your own personalised wand, or to even give wands out to your guests as favours would be pretty magical.
AH MUSIC… A MAGIC BEYOND ALL WE DO HERE!
The music of Harry Potter can be easily incorporated into your wedding day. A great example is similar to what Fiona and David did for their wedding where they had Modulus Quartet play songs from tv/films that they love.
YET HERE IT WAS, A LETTER, ADDRESSED SO PLAINLY THERE COULD BE NO MISTAKE
There can be so much done with the wedding stationery for a Harry Potter wedding. I’ve seen couples use pages from the books to create confetti or centrepieces. You can be insipired by the Marauder’s Map for your stationery like this example by Paper Truly.
I SOLEMNLY SWEAR THAT I AM UP TO NO GOOD
However you decide to have your Harry Potter wedding, just be true to yourself and plan the day you want! Go all Potter out and have four long tables lined up like the Great Hall. Have them set out to represent each of the houses. Or add little touches to show your love of the books.
