An engagement shoot in Buckinghamshire at home

This week I am looking forward to shooting the wedding of Lauren and Zoe. They will be getting married in Northamptonshire at the gorgeous Dodford Manor. I am really looking forward to shooting their wedding. It sounds like it’s going to be a blast!

So for now, I am sharing their engagement shoot. I met up with the lovely couple at Zoe’s parents’ house. It’s a beautiful little home, and it made for great locations for their engagement shoot. Sometimes having engagement shoots in a place you are familiar with can help with any nerves you may have about being in front of the camera.

I always tell my couples that the engagement shoot is the worst bit. This is the first time most couples have a professional photoshoot together. And let’s face it, when you are unsure of how things are going to go, or it is something you are not use to, you are naturally going to feel a little bit nervous. The engagement shoot is the worst bit because this is the first time you will be experiencing it. It is sometimes in a public location so there are people you do not know possibly looking in at what is going on. That is why sometimes doing it at home is a great idea to be able to help overcome any of those initial nerves. Plus when it is your wedding day, you will be in the moment. You will be elated and happy because you have just got married. It is happening! The big day is happening right now! So it is a different scenario altogether.

However, having an engagement shoot can also give you reassurance as to know what to expect on your wedding day. That way you are not worrying about what will happen as you have already experienced it. You have been there, done that. So you can enjoy it, enjoy your day and enjoy your wedding photography. Simples.

And so, even though Lauren and Zoe found it awkward and weird at first during their engagement shoot, they know what to expect on their wedding day. That their portraits will take a much shorter time compared to their engagement shoot. And that they can just enjoy it when it comes to it.

These are some of my favourite photos from their engagement shoot in Buckinghamshire.
