This wedding was definitely an alternative wedding, and man did I love it! Karen and Dave decided to make their The Bell in Ticehurst wedding all about them. As it should be. And it was just amazing!!
Married at St Mary’s Church, their wedding reception was around the corner at The Bell in Ticehurst. Del Boy (aka Maurice Canham) was there handing out the Order of Services for guests as they arrived at the church and then was on hand trying to flog off a few watches etc at the reception later.
The Bell was decorated throughout with big balloons, beautiful flowers and gothic snowglobes. I particularly love the Frankenstein and his bride one! Karen and Dave’s cake was something else. Made by Fatcakes, this epic Alice in Wonderland cake towered high with the Cheshire Cat grinning as he wore the Mad Hatter’s hat and juggled teacups and teapots. Incredible! I didn’t blame them for not wanting to cut into it.
Karen looked stunning in her very own The Couture Company wedding dress. It was custom made for her and was just stunning!! More brides in dresses by them please. I loved the sparkly sequins and the stunning work on the back with the couples’ initials. Just absolutely gorgeous. Karen’s dogs Biggie Small and Mrs Pickles were also there wearing gorgeous flower collars. So so cute.
In the evening, the guests were entertained by Paul the Magician wowing/confusing the crowd and Inflate-A-Belles (also known as Belle’s Ballooning Boutique) creating fab balloon headpieces for the guests to wear including the bride for her first dance. Paparazzi Taxis were parked just outside to provide photobooth fun and Disco Wed had their disco shed set up to give the couple their first dance and get the guests on the dancefloor. Del Boy, Paul the Magician and Inflate-A-Belles were all booked through Warble Entertainment.
I absolutely fell in love with Karen when I first spoke to her a couple of years ago when she booked me as her wedding photographer. Not only did her wedding sound amazing but as a person, I just love her to bits. She is one of the strongest women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Her and her family are just incredible people and the whole day was spent feeling like I was just with friends. I am so thankful that Karen and Dave chose me to be their wedding photographer at their Bell in Ticehurst wedding. Here are some of my favourite photographs.
