A makeup lesson with Vicky Brown makeup artist
This past week, I had a lesson with Vicky Brown Makeup Artist who is a popular bridal hair and makeup artist within the Hertfordshire area. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Vicky on a few styled shoots I have worked on, such as the South Farm shoot and the gothic circus shoot we did last year, as well as at weddings, such as Jo and Dan’s wedding in Milton Keynes this August. She also did my makeup for my photoshoot I had for my new ‘about me’ profile photo. So I know she knows her stuff!
Vicky also offers makeup lessons, and so I went along to see what I could learn from her. In all honesty, I’ve never really known much about makeup and so I was always a little curious to find out more about it and what would be best to use for my skin. I have quite a bad t-zone. I get quite red skin and it can get a little dry now and again. It can be such a nightmare to work with sometimes, particularly when you don’t know what is best to use.
Vicky made it so simple to learn and we went through the basics and how to get a good every day look, before going into techniques such as how to get a good smokey eye look (I do love a good smokey eye look!) She is such a good teacher, she understands what is best for you and for your skin, and works around the kind of makeup you already use as well. She gave me some advice on what brands to use, and not necessarily the big makeup names such as MAC but also high street brands that can be just as good for certain areas. I now have such confidence with my makeup and think Dan needs to come up with a good excuse to take me out one evening so I can give my smokey eyes look a go!
