It’s The Most Wonderful Time of Year

I am a guest blogger on Olu Woman, so I thought I would share this blog I had posted on their website here too.

Christmas has always been a strange time of year for me. I have never really been a big fan of Christmas, dare I say it! But since having my daughter, I’ve grown to love and look forward to Christmas. This year I’ve been really looking forward to it, though it doesn’t really feel like Christmas yet… and it’s Christmas Eve! This year has just seemed to have flown by; where has that time gone?

So over the last few days, I’ve been out to Tesco to do our big food shop so hopefully we won’t have to go to the shops again til after Christmas, I have cleaned and tidied our home so it’s all nice for Christmas, I have been singing and dancing along to music whilst wrapping up the presents, I took my girl to see a pantomine last night which really was the best panto I’ve ever seen, and then today will be spent in pjs watching our traditional Christmas Eve films of a Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands before leaving out the mince pie, carrots and reindeer food as we head to bed.

But when thinking about what Christmas means to me, it means being able to spend the day with the two people I love the most in this world and being able to see my daughter’s face light up when she sees that Santa has been to visit. With her being 9 now, I know it won’t be long until she’s grown out of that.

Christmas also means I’m looking to the following year and wondering what it will bring. Each year I usually think “I hope it’ll be better for this and that reason” but this year I KNOW that 2012 will be a great year for the three of us, and I’m really excited about what it will bring!

In 2012, my daughter will be 10, me and my partner will celebrate our 5th year anniversary, we have lots of things planned for the three of us, and I have some amazing work coming up too! Speaking to some of my couples about their weddings makes me so excited and I’m thoroughly looking forward to being a part of those special days.

So with that, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and I really hope that 2012 is looking to be a fantastic year for you as it is for us xxx
